Time for 'The Fantasticks'

Opening night is Thursday, May 6. We're having a great time once again in rehearsals as we wind down to the performances. Rock Solid in Winona is a wonderful organization that helps get kids off the streets and everything is either free of charge or has a nominal fee. The day-to-day expenses are covered by private donations only. Unfortunately in this economy, they are hurting and had to close their doors for a while to re-group. The money raised from these performances will hopefully be the springboard to getting them going again. Tickets can be purchased at Midtown Foods and HyVee in Winona. Performances are at 7:30pm Thurs-Sat and 4:00pm on Sunday.

country Idol

Shania Twain was the mentor and everyone had to sing her songs. Not so easy for the guys but they managed. Perhaps country night should be a bit more broad for the choice of songs. Read how your favorite did.

disappointed is an understatement

Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson clashed again at Talladega on Sunday. Both were disappointed in each other the week before at Texas Motor Speedway but this week Johnson seemed to intentionally cut off Gordon while he was making a run for the front. Gordon made his displeasure known so now we'll just have to wait and see what happens between the two teammates. story

Spock goes home to Vulcan

Leonard Nemoy paid a visit to a small farming community in Alberta, Canada. The town's name is Vulcan and residents came out in their 'Star Trek' gear to welcome Spock home. Spock's visit

Kevin is openly gay and will be a new permanent character in the Archie's Comics. He enters a burger eating competition and beats Jughead. This endears him to Veronica who then pursues him. Thus begins the new plot.

Too much cleavage for TV?

Lane Bryant has a very tasteful ad (in my opinion) but Fox and ABC wouldn't air it during peak times. Victoria's Secret ads, however, did. Is there a separate set of rules just because Lane Bryant's model is a "plus" size model? See the ad and tell me what you think on facebook.

Three women at a church rummage sale fought off a would-be robber. He got away with nothing but an empty purse which he discarded. Now I'd call that poetic justice! video

The potential cost of Farmville.

A 12-year old UK boy ran up $1400 worth of credits on his "free" Farmville game on facebook. He apparantly liked the new stuff that came out and he wanted it. Looks like his mother won't get any of the money back that her son charged on her credit card unless she files charges against him. the cost of farmville

I have accepted a role in 'The Fantasticks' at Rock Solid in Winona. I'm very excited about the performances which will be the first weekend in May.

Big Mike is saved

I was very surprised when Big Mike was in the bottom three but glad to see that he was saved. Unfortunately that means that two have to go home next week.
