"make love, not war"

A picture emerged from the chaos of the Vancouver riots. A couple appears to be kissing in the midst of the riot; positioning themselves between the police and the rioters. Turns out that it wasn't exactly how it looked in the picture. The boyfriend, Scott Jones, was helping his injured girlfriend, Alex Thomas, when they were caught by a photographer. It only took a matter of hours before they were identified and the true story was revealed. kissing couple

another hero emerges from the NFL lockout

Leonard Pope is in Georgia instead of at camp in Kansas City. With free time on his hands, he attended a pool party--turns out he was the only adult at the party who knew how to swim. Six-year-old Bryson Moore accidently strayed into the deep end--his mother screamed--Pope took action. He dove into the pool (cell phone and all) and brought the boy to the surface where he handed the child to his mother. He's a hero and just happened to be in the right place at the right time. hero

custody fight on facebook

Facebook is turning into a whole lot more than just a social networking site. Employers, gamers, and now; parents in a custody battle are using it. Angela and David Voelkert were getting a divorce and fighting for custody of their children. Angela created a fake profile of a 17-year-old girl and friended her ex-husband hoping to catch him saying inappropriate things to a minor in order to use it against him in court. David, however, had a plan of his own. He had an affidavit notorized to show that he suspected that this was a fake person and was only trying to use the information gained from this person as defense in court for himself. facebook twist

Found $17,000--now what?

A craving for a snack led a Chicago-area man to finding $17,000 on the sidewalk. Robert Adams went to an ATM to get cash to buy his usual large horchata and chorizo burrito when he noticed a clear plastic bag with money in it. He first thought that it was a joke and someone would laugh at him. He tried to return it to the bank but it wasn't theirs so he went to the police. He said that he never even considered keeping it. story

Goodbye Marshal Dillon

James Arness, who played Marshal Dillon on Gunsmoke, passed away on Friday, June 3. He went peacefully in his sleep and left a letter to be read posthumously: "I had a wonderful life and was blessed with ... (so) many loving people and great friends," he wrote.

"I wanted to take this time to thank all of you for the many years of being a fan of Gunsmoke, The Thing, How the West Was Won and all the other fun projects I was lucky enough to have been allowed to be a part of. I had the privilege of working with so many great actors over the years."

My fascination with Miss Kitty has made Gunsmoke and Marshal Dillon near and dear to my heart as well. A great actor...he was 88.
