Boy finds message in a bottle.

A 9-year old boy from Ireland was looking for treasure along a beach near his home when he discovered what he thought was trash.  That is, until he opened the green 2-liter bottle.  It contained a note that had traveled 8 years and 2500 miles.  Two girls vacationing in Canada had thrown the bottle and note into the ocean and hoped for a response from the person who found it.  Now 20-years old and in college, Charlaine and Claudia were able to Skype with Oisin about finding the bottle and will visit him in Ireland next summer.  message in a bottle

Shark falls from sky

San Juan Hills Golf Club is the scene of a rare phenomenon.  A shark fell from the sky...probably out of the clutches of a predatory bird.  Staff at the golf club managed to save the shark and release it into the ocean.  falling shark

smallest dog?

A tiny dog from Poland weighed just 1.58 ounces at birth and wasn't expected to make it.  Her owner had to feed her with an eye dropper about every 30 minutes and sometimes it was so difficult that she just wanted to give up.  Meysi is now 3 months old and 3.25 ounces--probably won't get much bigger than that.  Her and two other tiny pooches will compete for the honor of smallest dog in the Guinness Book of World Records when they reach the age of 1 year.  tiny dog

Scary moment for Jana Kramer

Jana was on her way back from a cruise with Blake Shelton when her plane was forced to make an emergency landing without landing gear.  She tweeted her thoughts about being scared and asking for prayers.  Several fans and other artists responded with warm thoughts for her.  She tweeted again about half hour later that all was good--safe on the ground but was still very shook up.  She's very superstitious about flying and this didn't help matters any.  safe landing

Raised by monkeys?

Capuchin monkeys found a lost girl and took her in as one of their own.  She doesn't remember exactly how it happened but Marina Chapman told stories about how she was raised by monkeys and about her rescue.  Her daughter is helping to write a book about the adventures of her mother's life.  raised by monkeys

Soup kitchen in trouble after Ryan washes dishes

Saturday morning, Republican Ryan stopped by a soup kitchen in Youngstown, OH.  According to the Ryan camp, he was invited.  According to the charity president, Brian Antal, he wasn't invited.  Apparently a volunteer opened the door for him and let him in to rinse a few dishes.  Now St. Vincent DePaul's is losing donors as a result of the photo op.  Antal says that the same would've happened even if it had been a democrat that stopped by.  They choose not to get involved with politics because most of their donations come from private sources.  epic fail

Angel at truck stop helps deliver baby

A homeless man was at a truck stop in Oklahoma during his hitchhiking trip to Florida when he heard a woman screaming that her baby wasn't breathing.  The woman, Keaton Mason, was being rushed to the hospital by her fiance because she had gone into labor early.  They didn't make it.  With the delivery happening at the truck stop and the cord wrapped around the babies neck, the young couple was ill-prepared for the surprise arrival.  Luckily Gary Wilson was in the right place at the right time.  Keaton and her fiance call him their angel.  baby doing fine

Deer chases man up a tree.

In Bushy Park in west London, several red deer live in peaceful existence with humans in the park.  However, don't get too close especially during the rut.  One man discovered this in a very scary way.  He used a tree as a shield but the deer was adamant about getting to him.  The man finally made it up the tree and the deer wandered away.  The police arrived to help the man out of the tree.  angry deer

Crash at Talladega takes out top contenders

The drivers knew it was coming...the big one at Talladega.  It happened less than a lap from the finish.  Tony Stewart claims the blame 100% but it was inevitable.  They were 5 wide, only inches apart, and all eager for the win.  Matt Kenseth managed to make his way through to the win.  Jeff Gordon came out of it with a second place finish.  Earnhardt Jr. was caught up in all of it and went home in 11th place in the points.  race recap

Jennifer responds to bully

Jennifer Livingston is my new hero!  She responded to a bully very eloquently.  It is my hope that her  message will help many who have also been bullied.  She is one of the best role models I've ever encountered.
An occasional viewer of WKBT took it upon himself to let his stupidity come pouring out in a letter to Jennifer about her weight.  I have always said that stupidity is a relative term--it depends where you're standing at the time.  Mr. Krause proves my point.
First of all, it is none of  his business what size anyone else is.  As a very wise woman has said many times, "he/she is the boss of their own underpants."
Jennifer responded to her bully with a 5-minute answer on WKBT after her husband, Michael, posted the letter on his facebook page.
If Mr. Krause (author of the letter) had done any research, he would have found that yo-yo dieting is one of the worst things a person can do to their body.  Also, there are no such things as "fat" diseases.  Thin people get the same ailments.  Only 5% of dieters keep the weight off long-term. The weight loss industry is the only one that can have a 95% failure rate and still be in business.  So, Jennifer, you are beautiful inside and out--your bully cannot even come close to your beauty!  Keep up the good work--you are a true inspiration!  Jennifer's story

Dogs on a grill takes on a whole new meaning.

A driver saw a white dog dart out in front of him but slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting it.  The dog was nowhere to be seen so the driver assumed it had run off.  After a ride of 11 miles, the driver was alerted by a passing motorist to check the front of the car.  There the driver found the little white dog stuck in his grille.  He immediately drove to a vet to have the dog removed.  All is well with the little pooch and animal control is trying to locate the owner.  Dog's ride

Deer making headlines

This time it's not such a pleasant story.  A Chinese restaurant in Kentucky was shut down after customers complained about road kill being dragged through the restaurant and into the kitchen.  The owners claimed that they didn't know it was wrong and had planned to feed it to their family; not customers.  roadkill

Deer sidelines skateboarder

Several people were competing in the Buffalo Downhill in Colorado.  One of the skateboarders was recording his ride and caught something else on camera.  A deer takes out a fellow boarder when it dashes across the road.  Thankfully both rider and deer were fine after the incident.  deer
