RIP Rowdy Roddy Piper

We've lost another "great."  Rowdy Roddy Piper was 61 when he died from cardiac arrest in his sleep at his home.  I remember watching Rowdy Roddy Piper wrestle when I was younger.  He always wore a kilt and had a smile on his face.  He and Dusty Rhodes will be missed.  Roddy

RIP Lynn Anderson

The "Rose Garden" singer was 67 when she passed on Thursday from cardiac arrest.  She had been hospitalized with pneumonia after a trip to Italy.  She will be missed.  Lynn Anderson

bus driver hero

A bus driver in Bogota Columbia found an injured dog in the road along his route.  He didn't hesitate to stop to rescue the pooch.  Using a piece of cardboard as a backboard, he picked up the dog and brought it onto the bus.  Passengers looked after the dog until it could be dropped off at a local vet.  The dog is alive today thanks to this bus driver hero.  injured dog

RIP Cecil

Cecil the lion is no more.  That's thanks to a heartless person who has more money than brains.  Walter Palmer is a dentist from Minnesota.  He paid over $50,000 for the "privilege" of shooting, stalking, and killing the majestic beast.  Here's hoping that all of his customers find a new dentist and he no longer has the money to do stupid things.  RIP Cecil

Hulk Hogan no longer exists

All reference to Hulk Hogan on the WWE website has been removed.  There's no reason as to why but some are speculating that it is because of an interview he did that has yet to air.  No more Hulk Hogan

Bus driver causes smiles

A bus driver in Boston was running ahead of schedule when he noticed a lemonade stand along side the road.  He had 7 passengers aboard and asked if they minded a few second delay for stopping to get some lemonade.  They all agreed.  He purchased glasses of lemonade for everyone on the bus and even paid the girls more than they were charging.  The four girls and the seven
passengers all had smiles as they continued their day.  great bus driver

Lion on the streets of Milwaukee

Police in Milwaukee have received several 911 calls about a large cat roaming the streets of Milwaukee and they are taking it seriously.  Neighbors are worried and one even caught video of the cat.  The Milwaukee Zoo is reporting that all of their animals are where they should be.  This makes authorities think that it may me a mountain lion following deer.  Some on social media are making light of the situation.  The Milwaukee Bucks posted that their mascot is on the case.  lion

dogs adopted

After a picture was posted to facebook, a pair of hugging dogs are rescued from a high kill shelter.  Their picture along with a plea for their rescue is being credited with them finding a furever home.  They were just one day away from being put down but because of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, the two were saved.  It only took 2 hours and 6 minutes from the posting, to the dogs being loaded in a car and on their way to a vet.  happy ending

divorce

A country music couple is calling it quits.  I wrote about this story last year and unfortunately now it's coming true.  Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are divorcing.  Even though they disputed divorce rumors last year, it seems they just couldn't make it.  divorce

Batman to the rescue

Zavi loves dressing up like a superhero.  So off to the store he goes in his Batman costume.  His little brother is in full Superman mode.  The Bat Signal goes up when a young girl becomes trapped in a car.  Although police have broken a window, it is too small for any adult.  Zavi bravely crawls through to retrieve the keys and police open the doors.  The one-year-old damsel in distress and her grandparents are grateful that she is safe.  hero

cop's last day on the job

In Brooklyn Minnesota, Commander Brian Peters was on his last day on the force.  After 14 years he's moving on to a new career.  But before his last day of walking in his policeman's uniform, he decided to give back to the people he had been serving all these years.  He took $500 and bought gift cards that he gave out to random people as he went about his last day on the job.  He brought smiles to the faces of several people that day.  police officer gives

hold your sale at the police department

With all of the terrible things happening to people who have tried to buy or sell things online, local police departments are starting to open "safe zones" for the transactions to take place.  Some are offering their lobbies or parking lots for the exchange.  They feel that if someone has ideas about committing a crime while doing a buy or sell, they wouldn't agree to meet at a police station.  In the towns where the police have done this, it has become very popular.  buy/sell at the PD

bear rescue

Rafting guides in Tennessee watched for days as a young bear cub struggled to stay alive.  Finally one of them rowed near enough for the cub to climb aboard.  When it was brought to shore, it was close to death but has now been taken to a rescue facility and is doing well.  Caretakers say that he should be able to go back into the wild to live out his life.  What is horrible about this story is that the rescuer and the guide service are facing fines for removing wildlife.  They are willing to pay whatever it costs because they couldn't just watch that bear cub die.  Kudos to them!  bear cub

Star Wars walk

Kevin Doyle is walking 645 miles to honor his late wife.  But it's not just any 645 miles.  He's walking from Rancho Obi-Wan to Comic-Con in San Diego.  His walk began on June 6 with Kevin averaging 20 miles a day.  And he's doing this dressed in full Stormtrooper armor.  He's met curious people along the way as well as cancer survivors, their family members, and those who have lost one to the disease.  His wife passed in 2012 from pancreatic cancer.  She always told him that he was "such a dork."  She herself was a "self-proclaimed geek" and they both loved Star Wars so Kevin knew this is what he had to do.  He's bringing awareness and raising money to donate items to children with cancer.  After Comic-Con Kevin plans to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge with a full garrison of costumed Stormtroopers before heading home.  walk

flying shark

A family in Virginia Beach found a shark in their backyard.  It fell from the sky.  Experts say most likely that it had been dropped by a large bird.  The family is keeping it in a bag in their freezer so they can show curious friends their find.  Flying sharks and shark bites...the east coast is full of shark sightings!  shark

Grandma Angel

A young woman lost her beloved grandma in 2012.  But the family feels that they have received a sign from her letting them know that she is well and still watching over them.  When Debbie King got a copy of her ultrasound, she thought telling if the baby was a boy or girl would be all she learned but instead there was something else in the picture.  The family agrees that it looks just like their grandma in the picture.  message from beyond?

At a Volkswagon factory in Germany, a robot has killed a worker.  It apparently grabbed the 22 year old worker and slammed him against a wall. And so the nightmare of "I Robot" begins?  robot kills
