LAX evacuation

The Los Angeles airport was the scene of panic when false reports came in about a shooter.  One poor guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time.  An actor coming from an audition was dressed in a Zorro costume complete with a plastic sword.  Police drew their guns and took him into custody.  All he was doing was waiting for his ride.  Maybe next time he'll take the costume off before heading home.  Zorro

RIP Gene Wilder

We've lost a great actor.  Gene Wilder passed away at the age of 83.  He was in 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,' 'Blazing Saddles,' and 'Young Frankenstein' among others.  He will be missed. RIP Gene

Goblins

A woman in Nicaragua claims that as a child, she was abducted by goblins and held captive in a cave for 5 days.  Her family had to rescue her.  The family consulted with a witch and followed her advice to rescue the little girl.  According to local lore, many other children have had the same experience of being lured away by goblins and then being held in the cave until being rescued.  kidnapped

critter in the road

Around here we have to watch for deer, raccoons, and other small critters.  But in Louisiana they've got bigger hazards on their roads.  An alligator brought traffic to a halt when it strolled down a highway.  A driver had to call 911 in the hopes of getting some help to get the critter to move.  Apparently the alligator wasn't thrilled about the cops being called and it left the highway before they arrived.  road block

illegal immigrants

Lots of news stories have been dedicated to illegal immigrants lately but who would've thought that it would mean Americans entering Canada illegally.  In Port Huron, Michigan there is an unofficial float down on the St. Clair River.  Floaters ride tubes down the river in droves on one day of the year.  This year though, the weather didn't cooperate and the winds sent many floaters into Canada where they had to be rescued from the rough waters.  Some tried to swim back to the US but were stopped and brought to Ontario.  All were loaded on a bus and taken back to the US.  An unofficial facebook page for the event thanked Canadian officials for their true kindness and for being amazing neighbors.  river tubing gone wrong

stolen bras

A Florida man wanted to get something special for his lady.  He decided to steal two bras instead of paying the $20 to buy them.  The occasion?  His lovely woman was being released from jail.  Now he had to use his rent money to bail himself out and he has no gift to give her when she returns home...if they even have a home when she gets out.  Crime doesn't pay.

Pokemon Go

The honeymoon is over.  Pokemon Go is losing players.  It was only a matter of time where some who played the game got bored with it.  It will have it's die-hard players and new players will start every day but the initial love affair with the game has worn off.  Maybe now opponents can stop complaining about the players disrespecting public parks.  Go players gone

Ryan Lochte

A lot has been in the news lately about Ryan Lochte and his swimmer buddies.  Reports have said that they lied about being robbed at gunpoint and that they have disgraced the US Olympic teams and the Amerian people.  But what  hasn't been reported until now is that there was a reporter there when it happened.  There's also video footage that shows the swimmers never even entered the bathroom.  They urinated on the wall and Ryan tore down a poster.  No one is saying that this is acceptable behavior but having a gun drawn on them while the person with the gun is demanding money, seems a lot like a robbery.  The security guards were off duty police officers which could have been why the intoxicated Ryan and his crew thought they were being robbed by the police.  So before passing judgement, get all the facts first.  Police can lie too.  robbery?

cab driver

A man got into a taxi and said that he wanted to be taken to a nearby bar.  But instead he tried to choke the driver and get money from him.  The driver wouldn't give up and drove the would-be robber to the nearest train station where he found a police officer.  The robber ran away but was found later and arrested.  That's one gutsy cab driver!  hero driver

phone call leads to jail

A man in Eugene, OR just wanted to call his parents so he walked into a police station lobby to use their phone.  The officer behind the desk recognized Nathan Alan Bramlage as a suspect in a bank robbery.  He was arrested and went to jail. Maybe he should've thought about making that phone call someplace else.  jail time

gorilla in the news

Koko the gorilla got a visit from Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Flea let Koko play his bass and the gorilla loved the mellow sounds.  There's even video of their interaction.  See it here.

snake

There's a giant snake on the loose in Maine.  Some have claimed that they've seen it.  Some say it's a hoax because the critter bragged about getting away on it's Twitter account.  But a 10 foot snake skin has been found and police are cautioning people just in case they come in contact with the snake.  Experts will examine the skin to determine what type of snake shed it and hopefully it's not a dangerous variety.  giant snake

arrested

A Florida man was arrested for raising a ruckus at a neighbors house after he drank a 6-pack of beer.  He was taken to jail and later released.  Normally a person would go home after that and be mellow...maybe even reflect on what he had done.  But not Donald Gartner, he decided to try to break into cars in the parking lot of the jail.  Arrested twice in one night...now there's something to brag about.  twice

fake letter?

A doctor has provided a medical letter for Donald Trump saying that he is fit to be President.  Another doctor, however, has picked the letter apart to prove that it is probably a fake.  You can read the letter and the "proof" here.

stolen credit card

A woman found that her wallet had been stolen while at a gas station.  She checked her account and found that it had been used across the street at a McDonald's restaurant.  She also told police that a green van had left the gas station about the time she noticed her wallet missing.  The police found the van across the street with a mother and her two children enjoying their meal.  The mother was arrested.  Nothing like making it easy for the police!  idiot

gorilla and a toddler

Twenty years ago a toddler fell into a gorilla enclosure at the Brookfield Zoo.  The outcome was very different than a recent incident.  A female gorilla was at the toddler's side after he fell.  She cradled him and carried him gently to a door where waiting paramedics took him.  She became a hero.  Binti-Jua

moron

A burglar in New York went into a home and stole electronics.  But he left something behind...and it wasn't his fingerprints.  He left  his cell phone.  The police were able to trace it back to him.  When they confronted him about his phone, he said that he didn't know where it was.  Does that mean that he actually traded his electronic item for the home owner's?  The stolen items were recovered and the burglar went to jail.  crime doesn't pay

beer run

A couple of criminals decided they wanted some beer and snacks and decided to steal some from a local convenience store.  What they didn't realize was that there were four officers at the counter.  The would-be criminals rushed to get out the door but the police were hot on their trail.  So for under $20 worth of beer and snacks, they got a free ride to jail.  stupid criminals

poltergeist

Police were called by a family who was experiencing some strange happenings at their house.  After two days of clothes flying around, a dog levitating, and the oven door opening and closing, the family left their home.  When the police arrived, they observed the same things that the family had.  No crime has been committed so the police don't know how to handle the occurrences.  baffled police

honeymoon

A groom had to go on his honeymoon by himself.  It's not because his bride left him, it's because she lost her passport.  He didn't want to go alone but she convinced him to go so that they didn't waste the whole trip.  She has applied for a Visa and will hopefully be joining him at some point on the trip.  He has taken a picture of his wife with him to keep him company.  traveling alone

missed flight

An airline passenger in Spain arrived late for his flight.  He was desperate to get on board so he broke through a fire escape and ended up on the tarmac chasing the plane.  He caught one although it wasn't his.  And of course he was arrested at the end of the flight.  Wouldn't it be so much better to just wait for the next available flight?  bad decision

rescued dog

A dog was on a ferry near Martha's Vineyard and decided to go for a swim.  It got away from it's owner and went overboard.  The crew searched for the dog but couldn't find it.  The captain of the Skipper Queen noticed the dog swimming erratically and tried to position his boat so that the pooch could be pulled on board.  He wasn't able to get close enough so he alerted another boat and they pulled it on board their vessel.  The dog has been reunited with the grateful owners.  water lover

loyal friend

A homeless man in Brazil was taken by ambulance to the hospital with an infection.  His dog ran alongside the ambulance all the way and remained outside the building waiting for his human friend to return.  Unfortunately the man died from the infection.  Eight months later the dog still stands vigil outside and his ears perk every time it hears the sirens from an ambulance.  Staff at the hospital learned about the dog's story and have been taking care of the pooch.  Twice, a possible furever home was found but the dog kept escaping and coming back to wait at the hospital.  The staff have now gotten the dog neutered and vaccinated.  They feed him and bring him water as well as take their free time to give him lots of love and attention.  The dog will be allowed to remain as long as it wants to be there.  man's best friend

train derailed

A train derailed in northern Iowa and what makes this story interesting rather than tragic is that it fell
into a trackside bar called DeRailed.  Thankfully no one was injured and the bar sustained only $10,000 damage.  accident

Blake Shelton and Westboro Baptist Church

Blake Shelton has once again taken on the Westboro Baptist Church.  They tweeted him saying that he should repent for his sins.  He fired back by accusing them of inbreeding.  He's definitely not shy about sparring with them.  Then he posted a picture of the founder Fred Phelps and said that it answered his question about the inbreeding.  He also posted a blurred picture of Phelps engaged in a lewd act.  Blake has butted heads with the hate group before once telling them to "b*** me."  rock on Blake!

Olympics

There's a lot of news coming from the Olympics.  The USA is in the lead with the most medals.  China is in second.  The living conditions are less than desirable.  And of course the water conditions are so bad that athletes are being warned not to put their head under water.  But the latest is just too funny.  A sign is posted in the bathrooms with the rules for potty time.  It starts with no throwing toilet paper in the toilet and goes all the way to no fishing in the toilet bowl.  The list of rules is quite comical.  toilet rules in Rio

clown

I make no secret of the fact that I don't like clowns.  So a clown in Green Bay would really creep me out.  Someone is walking around the streets of Green Bay, WI dressed in an old clown outfit with full makeup and carrying 4 black balloons.
Many have called police to report sightings but there's no law again walking around dressed like a clown.  The character even has a facebook page where the administrator is posting pictures of the clown.  He's been named "Gags."  creepy

lost cat

A Florida woman adopted a kitten and on the drive home, the little fur ball decided to crawl into the dash of the car.  The woman tried everything she could think to do to get that kitten out of there including trying to coax it with food and water; but no luck.  She put a plea on facebook for help and got a lot of responses but ultimately mechanics had to use a chainsaw to destroy the dash to get the kitten out.  destroyed dash

dog crashed a car

A woman left her two dogs in her vehicle while she went shopping.  She left the car running so that they wouldn't get overheated.  Unfortunately the dogs wanted to join her and decided to drive the vehicle into the store.  There wasn't much damage but this teaches us that we should leave our pets at home while running errands.  There's even a video of the dog's joy ride.  see it here

online dating

A Dutch man met a Chinese woman online and they started a conversation.  He decided that it was time to meet so he told her that he was going to fly to China.  She took that as a joke.  He wasn't kidding though and waited at the airport for 10 days for her to show up.  She claims that she was having plastic surgery and her phone was turned off.  He had to be removed from the airport and was treated for exhaustion.  They still plan to meet.  How long should a person wait when a date doesn't show?  10 days?

divorce

A 57-year-old man was ordered to turn over his house to his soon-to-be ex-wife in their divorce settlement.  Timothy Brosnan had built the $900,000 house himself. He and his ex-wife would be sharing the mortgage payments while they dissolved their marriage.  But one day before he was to turn it over, he decided to burn it down.  He poured gasoline in the garage and throughout the house and also opened a gas valve inside.  He made sure that everyone including the cat was out of the house and then set it on fire.  Now he's going to jail but he was joking with police about burning the house while he was arrested.  That's quite the price to pay to make sure that his wife didn't get the house.  feel the burn

lava smiles

It had been reported that lava in Hawaii had reached the ocean.  Now there's a picture of a lava lake smiling.  The image shows a smiley face in the lake.  So is it smiling because it's smug or is it sending a message that says everything will be ok?  It's an interesting picture.  lava lake smile

GPS

When you pass your turn and the GPS says turn around, it's not meant as an immediate command.  But one woman decided to turn sharply when her GPS said that she had passed her destination.  She ended up putting her car almost vertical.  Hope she learned her lesson.  Don't take GPS directions literally.  stupidity is strong in this one
