A family set a trap hoping to catch a fox.  The dad was teaching his sons how to trap an animal and then let it go.  What they discovered in the trap instead was a mountain lion who was not happy to be there.  The dad manages to get the door open and the cat runs off.  There were some tense moments when the mountain lion was voicing it's disapproval at being trapped.  mountain lion

zombie cat

The internet has been abuzz over the last couple days about Bart the zombie cat.  Bart was hit by a car and it's owner thought it was dead so he had a friend bury his beloved pet.  Five days later, Bart clawed his way out of his grave because apparently his 9 lives had not yet been lived.  Bart has to be treated for a broken jaw and will lose one eye but should recover.  Bart

Polar bear wanders London

Unleashed, the polar bear makes it's rounds in London.  There's no danger to anyone, the bear is actually a high-tech puppet.  It delighted those who saw it.  star of new show

A  man has spent thousands to equip his home with a cat playground.  He's built perches, tunnels, ramps, and walkways for his felines to enjoy.  Everything is built not only with the cats in mind but also the art factor.  playground

Friday night comedy

mystery visitor

A zoo in Israel either had a zoo worker who wasn't doing their job correctly or they had a visitor after hours.  They set up a trail cam to find out the cause of the mysterious droppings.  What they found was a wild male porcupine was visiting outside of the female porcupine's cage.  Now they have to figure out what they need to do with the situation.  nightly visitor

dog and elephant

In the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand, a dog and a baby elephant play together.  The elephant tries to keep up but eventually decides to quit.  The dog keeps taunting the baby elephant to try to keep the game going.  video

gun found

A gun that is 132 years old was found resting against a tree in Nevada's Grand Basin National Park.  It had apparently been there for over 100 years.  The colors of the gun had blended in with the surroundings and made it look like part of the tree.  Part of the wooden base was buried.  It's not in great shape but should be able to be preserved.  gun

banning cheese

The City Manager of Bainbridge Washington has banned cheese today (January 16) in City Hall.  They can't consume cheese or any cheese products because of the Cheeseheads that are coming for the game on Sunday.  funny one-day cheese rule

Eminem visits fan

Gage Garmo's last wish was to meet his favorite artist before he passed away.  At 17, he didn't have much time left because he was diagnosed with cancer.  On  Sunday, Rainbow Connection helped get Eminem to Gage's house where they talked for a couple hours.  On Monday, Gage passed away.  But his parents were able to see him sit up and smile one last time.  Gage

beautiful girl, beautiful dress

Kristen went to her Junior Prom and found the perfect dress.  It made her feel like a princess.  When it was time for her Senior Prom, she put the dress up for sale and posted a picture of her wearing it.  She hoped to raise money so that she could purchase a new dress.  Unfortunately some people are so cruel.  Negative comments were posted about her and the dress.  She stood up to the online bullies and her community rallied around  her.  They posted positive comments and also raised $400 so that she could buy a new  princess dress for her Senior Prom.  Kristen

Dog rides bus

In Seattle, a black lab named Eclipse jumps on a bus by herself and rides to the dog park.  Eclipse and her owner, Jeff, take the bus to the park on a regular basis together.  But one day, the dog got on the bus while Jeff was distracted.  He followed on the next bus.  Since then, Eclipse is a common solo rider with Jeff following closely behind.  The dog's presence on the bus delights passengers.  dog rider

flower girl and ring bearer get married

A flower girl and a ring bearer walked down the aisle in 1995 and didn't see each other again until years later when they just happened to end up in a high school class together.  They reconnected as friends and two years later, became a couple.  Now at 22 they have walked down the aisle again.  They are now husband and wife.  second walk down aisle

Sasquatch exists

In pictures, they exist.  Arizona officials added the sasquatch figures to a picture from a traffic cam.  They then posted it and asked what people thought of them catching the elusive creatures on camera.  It was a joke of course and many of the comments on the pic are just as funny.  sasquatch family

Snow on a tropical cruise

The Norwegian Escape Cruise Ship will have a snow room.  The flurries will fly a couple times a day in there for anyone who wants to experience the snow.  It's part of the ship's spa area and will be kept at 21 to 32 degrees at all times.  snow room

Living indoors

There is a small town in Alaska that lives in an old Army barracks.  It's 14 stories tall and has everything that the residents could need.  The Mayor's office is in the basement and the building has retail space as well.  There's a school with an indoor playground connected by a tunnel so on those extremely cold days, the kids don't even have to go outside.  Close community

What do you do with a wedding dress after the groom walks out on the bride just 5 days prior to the wedding?  One bride decided to trash her dress in a photo shoot.  Her bridesmaids and even her parents came to help.  The dress is now hanging in a bridal shop and they will donate a portion of their sales during the time the dress is there to a local non profit.  dress

take a vacation, adopt a dog

There's a hotel in Asheville NC that has adoptable dogs to greet guests as they check in.  One dog at a time is kept at the hotel until it is adopted.  They are always on a leash, wear an "adopt me" vest,

and can accompany guests anywhere except to their room overnight.  If a guest would like to adopt, an inspection is made of their home to make sure it will be an acceptable home for the new pet.  adopt a dog

Hero

A man returning from work heard screams and realized they were from his own children.  When he rushed to his house, he found the third floor in flames.  He rushed in to save the family dog and in doing so, found a neighbor who had not left her apartment.  He is a hero both for saving the dog and the neighbor.  lives saved

Dog waits for owner

Masha has been waiting for years for her owner to return.  She stays faithfully at the hospital where her owner was a patient for two years.  It's been about a year since her owner passed but still Masha waits.  The hospital has adopted her hoping that she will find and accept a new owner.  Until then, she refuses to leave.  faithful dog

That's one BIG crab

Coconut crabs can get as big as garbage cans and will pretty much eat anything in their paths.  They can devastate a local eco system with their voracious appetite.  They've even been known to eats cats.  In Hawaii they are banned as an invasive species.  So how one was found wandering down the street in Honolulu is a mystery to everyone.  It has been captured and will take up residency in the Honolulu Zoo.  giant crab

possum drop

There's a small town in North Carolina that does a possum drop on New Years Eve.  They put a possum in a box and slowly lower it at midnight.  This year however, PETA has stepped in and put a stop to it saying that the lights and noise will harm the animal.  So tonight, they will be lowering an animal but it won't be alive.  They plan to use road kill possum if they can find one.  Otherwise it may be possum stew in the box.  funny tradition
