hero dog
Leslie Green was out for a stroll with her dog, Ruby Rae, early one morning when the dog led her to a newborn baby that had been abandoned. If it had not been for Ruby Rae, the newborn probably wouldn't have survived. It was wrapped in towels and still had the umbilical cord attached. Green alerted authorities who transported the baby to the hospital. Even though a search was done in the area to hopefully find who the mother was, nothing was found that would lead police to any answers. Ruby Rae
Where's Steve?
Remember Steve Burns from Blue's Clues? The show was a hit and it seemed that Steve just disappeared at the height of it's success. There were rumors at the time but now we know for sure what happened to him. He didn't die of a drug overdose or even get busted for using drugs. And he wasn't in a car crash. Even though there were a number of personal reasons that Steve left the show, he says the one that was top was that he was going bald and he didn't want to do that on tv. So now we can stop wondering about what happened to Steve. He's dabbling with a career in music and has done some work with The Flaming Lips. Steve

Cute sea lion reaction
Surprise on Memorial Day
A group of firefighters were at a Costco Store in Vacaville, CA buying their groceries when they got a call and had to leave. They had been in line to check out so they left their cart and rushed to the emergency. When they returned to the store to pay for their groceries, they found that the bill had been paid by an "Air Force wife." No one knows who the woman was but the firefighters have decided to pay it forward with the money that would've been spent on the food. good deed

visiting all 50 states
There is a group of people who make it their goal to visit all 50 states. Some have certain rules like they must stay at least an hour in each state and airport property doesn't count. I've got just 3 states to visit: Maine, Rhode Island, and Alaska. It's going to take some planning but I will make it happen. 50 states

Tara the cat
After saving her 4-year-old from a vicious dog attack, Tara the cat was honored with throwing out a pitch at a local game. Four-year-old Jeremy threw the first pitch at the Bakersfield Blaze game and then Tara stepped up for her pitch. At first they tried a ball on a string but Tara wasn't swatting; then Jeremy's dad helped guide Tara's paw to make the ball fly. "And the crowd went wild!" Tara's pitch

Could Bieber end up in prison?
Justin Bieber's legal problems are getting bigger. He's now facing a felony charge and that could possibly get him prison time or even deported. He is currently being investigated for robbery after an incident involving a woman and her cell phone. Bieber didn't like the fact that she was recording him while he played miniature golf. For those people signing the petition on the government's website to get Justin Bieber deported; just wait, the kid will take care of that himself. Bieber's legal woes

recruit a cat?
J.T. Granato had a list of schools that wanted to recruit him. Most kids want to go away to college and experience life on their own, so how does a school stand out when they're the one in the recruit's backyard? Rice School in Houston decided to take their pitch to Granato's cat. They wrote a letter to the pet asking it to help persuade Granato to stay close to home so that he could be there to feed the cat and change the litter box. Apparently the cat has some powers of persuasion when it comes to J.T. because he has signed with Rice. cat's letter

Bobcat
A baby bobcat was found in the walls of a spa. The owner doesn't know how it got there but it was clear that the mother wouldn't be able to rescue it, so people would have to step in. They took down part of the wall to rescue the kitten. It will be fed every four hours until it's weaned and then introduced to some foster bobcat parents who will teach it to survive in the wild. bobcat

DON'T DO THIS!!
I don't know how many times it has to be said, but don't do the cold water challenge. When you see groups doing it, they're doing it in a safe way. There are doctors and rescue personnel readily available if anything happens to go wrong. If you want to donate to a worthy cause, then just do that. No one is asking anyone to risk their lives over a donation. A young man has lost his life over this stupid craze. tragic news

first tiny house in Madison
Betty and Chris have moved into their tiny 99-square-foot home and they are very pleased to be living there. Both had been homeless so even though their new home is only big enough for a bed, a half-round table, composting toilet, sink, and a shelf for a microwave; it's much better than sleeping on a park bench in the middle of winter. tiny homes

dog is boy's best friend
Three-year-old Carson wandered away from his home in Cooperstown, North Dakota Monday evening. His mother searched for about a half hour before calling his dad. They discovered that the dog was also missing. After searching themselves for another hour, they called 911. In a town of 800 for it's population, 200 came out to help look for the boy. The police launched an aerial search while neighbors helped on 60 ATV's and on foot. About 7 hours after his disappearance, the police were ready to call it a night and begin again in the morning when they decided to look one more time from a four-wheeler. They found the toddler sleeping in a field with the dog covering his body to keep him warm. happy ending

Ski resort vs. bear
A bear was found wounded near a ski resort in Lake Tahoe. It was nursed back to health and set free in the wilderness. The bear had other plans. It somehow managed to find it's way back to the ski resort within a matter of days. Seems it was too used to people food. No worries though, the bear will find a home at an animal sanctuary or zoo. comfy bear
