Joseph Phillips-Garcia was involved in a car accident where the other three occupants of the vehicle didn't survive. Only Joseph and his dog Sako came out of it alive. Joseph was not in good shape; he could barely move. If it weren't for Sako keeping him warm and protecting him from coyotes, he may not have lived at all.
