Corvettes

After 25 years a set of corvettes have been sold.  There is one for every year from 1953 to 1989.  It was a prize in a VH1 contest.  The winner, Dennis Amodeo, sold them to artist, Peter Max, who intended to use them for art projects.  That never happened and the cars have been in storage ever since.  Now they have been sold and the new owner plans to get them all back on the road.  cars

She's done it again.

Jennifer Garner just gets more amazing every time I hear her speak.  This time she accepted an award from Elle Magazine and did it while eating pizza.  She then went on to say that it's sad that women have to have a special event when the men's event is everyday in Hollywood.  And get rid of skinny jeans and crop tops for everyone because they don't look good on anyone.  She is wonderful.  Jennifer

twins meet for the first time

Samantha and Anais didn't really need the DNA test to know they were twins.  They had put the facts together after discovering each other on facebook.  There's now a book and a movie about finding each other at age 25.  And even though their birth mother is not interested in being a part of their lives, they are so happy to have found each other.  twins separated at birth

bullied for hair cut

She's 10 and wanted to donate her hair to Wigs for Kids.  So Jetta went to get her hair cut short and the bullying started.  She was picked on for wanting to be a boy.  Now she's found support on facebook with a page called "Stand With Jetta."  Unfortunately, the school administration wasn't much help and Jetta is now out of classes and her mother is looking for alternate schools.  bullied

There's a hotel in Sweden that is rebuilt every year.  In November and December the ice hotel in Sweden is constructed from ice and snice (snow ice).  Rooms rent for $236 per night and come complete with an ice bed and all of the ice furnishings.  You can also get an igloo built to your specifications for $231,000.  The hotel rents rooms until it melts in the spring.  cold room

basketball dreams

Lauren Hill's dream is to play on a college basketball team.  Her first game was scheduled for November 15 but her parents made a special request of the coach.  They wanted him to do everything in his power to move that date closer.  Lauren has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and may not be alive to see her first game.  The coach has managed to get a waiver on a rule, get the other team to agree, and has moved the game to November 2.  This helps but not by much.  Lauren is not doing well and may not even make it that long.  But she's determined to give her best try so that she can at least wear the jersey and hit the court for a bit of the game.  dream

wrong house--wrong lot?

A million dollar home was recently built in Florida.  It's got a great ocean view and the owners are very pleased with their design.  The problem?  It's built on the lot next door.  The lot was surveyed twice and marked so the builder went ahead with the construction.  Now it looks like it will go to court to figure out what to do with the mix-up.  on the wrong lot

A cat and a baby deer are introduced and become fast friends.  They even nuzzle and kiss.  cute video

Jennifer Garner put rumors to rest about her baby bump.  She says that yes, she has one and it's here to stay but she's not pregnant.  It's from having three children so people just need to get used to it.  Her message is empowering and I hope more people pull away from the unrealistic goal of being a size 0.  She is an amazing woman!!  forever baby bump

UFO or hoax?

Video taken supposedly shows a UFO outside the window of a passenger jet flying over Seattle recently.  It's a short video and the only sounds in the background are passengers going about their business.  It never shows the plane window frame so there's nothing to prove that it was shot through the window of an aircraft.  What do you think?  UFO

5-year old signs contract

The Jazz signed 5-year old JP Gibson to a 24 hour contract.  JP signed with a crayon.  He went on to score with a dunk.  Yes, he had some assistance.  JP has leukemia and this was a dream come true for him.  5-year old Jazz player

An owner of a restaurant in Dallas, NC has decided to take the prices off of her menu.  Instead customers are asked to pay what they think the food is worth.  It was intended to be just a promotion for a week but has now been extended because it's working so well.  no price menu

In 1968 a photo was taken of the moon's surface that shows what could be a spaceship resting in a crater.  Plus there's also what appears to be a straight road just below the crater.  The picture is open for interpretation because it could be shadows creating the illusion that something is there.  spaceship

divorce

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have not been seen together in months fueling more rumors that they are headed for a divorce.  Some are saying that the legal split could happen by Christmas.  couple splitting?

HOV lanes

We don't have HOV lanes around here but there are many in bigger cities.  I've used them all over the country in my many travels.  One woman in Washington thought she would use one as well.  But without a second person in the vehicle, it is illegal to drive in those lanes.  This driver was speeding and got pulled over by a State Trooper.  What  he found in her passenger seat definitely did not qualify as a passenger.  She had a large stuffed bear strapped into the seat.  So she not only got a ticket for speeding but one for illegal use of the HOV lane as well.  Then when it was discovered that she didn't have insurance, she got another one.  That was definitely a bad day for that 19 year old.  Wonder if she learned a lesson?  bear passenger

Draven Rodriguez is a 16 year old student from Schenectady High School in New York.  He wanted something more than a boring yearbook picture.  So he started a campaign to allow him to include his rescue cat in his pic.  He had a petition signed by 7,000 students but it turned out that he didn't need it.  The Principal was more than happy to allow the picture to be included in the yearbook.  She also joined in on the fun by posing with her pet.  yearbook pic

coyote went for a ride

A driver in Waukegan, IL was sure that he had hit something on his way to work but he didn't see anything in the road so he continued on his way.  What he discovered was that he indeed did hit a coyote and the animal was wedged into the grill of his SUV.  Mark Armour called animal control which rescued the coyote.  It has three broken legs but is doing well at Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation.  It's hoped that the coyote will make a full recovery and will be released back into the wild.  coyote's ride
