Play-Doh oops!

Hasbro is doing damage control after parents complained about a tool that was in one of their play sets.  It's actually an extruder tool in the Cake Mountain play set but it looks a whole lot like a phallic symbol.  They have promised that a new tool would be included in all future play sets and have offered a replacement for anyone who has purchased the Cake Mountain play set.  bad design

No takers

A small Minnesota town has offered free home lots to anyone who wants them.  The offer has been available for the past three years but so far no one has accepted.  There would be about a $1000 fee for administrative costs and a house must be built but otherwise there's no catch to the free lot. So if you're income eligible and want to build a home in Claremont MN, your land awaits.  free land

Tortoise to the rescue

A tortoise comes to the rescue of another tortoise.  One tortoise was on it's back and totally helpless.  There's no way it was going to get back on it's feet without aid from somewhere.  His buddy, another tortoise was the answer.  With some carefully placed leverage, all was (up) right with the world.  Onlookers cheered!  tortoise helped

A deer became entangled in a fence.  The pit bull that lived there alerted his family about the deer.  It then stayed by the deer's side comforting and kissing it until it's rescue.  The deer was so grateful that it wanted to remain with it's new friend.  Animal control had to re-locate the deer to a safer place.  caring pit bull

Jerking and Driving?

South Dakota has ended their "Don't Jerk and Drive" Campaign.  Apparently some didn't like the slogan and found it offensive.  It referred to jerking the wheel after sliding on ice.  Less jerking is safer because you don't have to correct after you've over-corrected.  Some thought it meant something else though and alluded to masturbation.  bad idea

soulmates until the very end

Harry and Mavis Stevenson spent their 65-year romance together as much as possible.  The worst part was when he had to go away to fight with the Royal Marines in 1943.  Recently Mavis became ill and had to be moved to a home.  Harry couldn't stand to be without her so he moved in as well even though he was still very healthy.  Mavis passed away on November 3.  Nurses informed Harry who was at her side.  He died within 10 minutes of his wife's passing.  In death, they are still together.  true love

"tragedy to triumph"

Farming was his first love...then came football.  Hayden Schaumburg was on his high school football team and one Friday night there was a tragedy.  He was involved in a collision on the field.  He went down and didn't get back up.  Hayden had broken his neck.  This meant that he wouldn't be up early in the fields helping his family with the harvest.  Instead the farming community came together and did weeks worth of work in less than a day.  Volunteers started showing up early on that perfect Saturday morning and by mid afternoon, the Schaumburg's harvest was on it's way to market.  Hayden has a long way to go yet but at least he can rest knowing that his fields have been harvested.  Hayden

dream basketball game

Lauren Hill just wanted to play on her college basketball team before time ran out.  She has an inoperable brain tumor and doctors don't expect her to live past December.  Her parents contacted the coach and asked if they could move the first game up so that Lauren could play.  They weren't sure she would last long enough to make it to the first game on November 15.  Lauren got her wish; the game was moved to November 2 and she got to play.  She started the game and made a lay-up that they had been practicing for a long time.  The stadium was packed and she got a standing ovation.  She also played in the last few seconds of the game.  She got 4 points total for the game.  Lauren

She's done it again.

Jennifer Garner just gets more amazing every time I hear her speak.  This time she accepted an award from Elle Magazine and did it while eating pizza.  She then went on to say that it's sad that women have to have a special event when the men's event is everyday in Hollywood.  And get rid of skinny jeans and crop tops for everyone because they don't look good on anyone.  She is wonderful.  Jennifer
