Canadian police threaten drunk drivers

The Canadian Police threatened the usual consequences for being caught driving drunk, fines, jail time, and loss of driving privileges.  But they went one step further to scare drunk people from getting behind the wheel.  On the way to jail, the driver will be forced to listen to Nickelback in the squad car.  I wonder if it will work.  punishment?

unlikely pair

A British Columbia, Ontario resident filmed his brother's cat being licked by a deer.  Apparently the cat is very friendly with the local wild deer and this one must've thought the cat tasted good. See the video

pizza delivery

A pizza chain is facing some tough deliveries in Japan with a difficult winter on it's way.  So they have decided to test deliveries by reindeer.  The animals would have a hot box strapped to their back and would make the journey alone.  A lot of details have to be dealt with before it happens but the pizza chain is hopeful.  I can see a lot of problems with this plan...the reindeer runs off...the box falls off it's back...someone steals the box en route...other animals smell the food and try to get it...the reindeer gets lost...the list goes on.  I think I'd prefer the delivery driver.  reindeer

gingerbread house

A chef in Rockford, IL has decided to honor the Cubs' win by building a 400 pound replica of Wrigley Field.  Every year the Forest Hills Country Club in Rockford builds a gingerbread house as a centerpiece for the club's annual holiday brunch.  It took 70 hours for his team to build the replica complete with cracker seats, gelatin windows, and an edible paper scoreboard.  There's even a train that travels around the field.  Wrigley Field

goat destroyed

Every year a wooden and straw goat is erected in Gavle Sweeden.  It's the Christmas goat and this was the 50th anniversary.  It didn't last long though.  Arsonists destroyed it within hours after it was inaugurated.  Every year the goat ends up being destroyed because it seems that arsonists just can't let it stand.  Christmas goat

frozen fish

An amusement park in western Japan put 5,000 dead fish under the ice of a skating rink.  The fish were purchased from a local fish vendor and were dead before they were placed under the ice but the display still drew a lot of criticism and the rink was forced to close.  The operator plans to hold a memorial for the fish.  closed

baby couldn't wait

Most people who traveled on Thanksgiving came home with a full belly.  But one couple had a different experience.  Mom gave birth to a baby girl on a highway just north of New York City.  Emergency crews were called but arrived 6 minutes after the little girl made her appearance.  That's a Thanksgiving that won't be forgotten by that family.  newborn

When emus attack

Cyclists in Australia near the Cotter River got a surprise as they tried to pass an emu.  The territorial bird is preventing cyclists from continuing their journey. It may not be a troll under a bridge but those birds can be vicious.  It runs after the cyclist until it decides to give up the chase.  video

Early bird doesn't get the worm...or the cash.

Criminals keep getting dumber and dumber.  A man had plans to rob a bank but arrived too early.  The bank didn't open for another 15 minutes.  He tried to hide his gun under a newspaper but his nervousness and the hood over his head were dead giveaways.  Passersby notified police and he was arrested.  epic fail

mannequin challenge

Have you heard about the mannequin challenge that's been hitting the internet?  Athletes and celebrities are among those that are striking poses and posting the videos on social media.  Now the dogs are getting involved.  Ryan Thomas, a Kansas college student is dressing his Boxer named Boston in costumes and taking videos of him sitting still in various poses.  Boston even poses while covered in Doritos and sitting in front of a tray of muffins.  Not to be outdone though, a pooch named Ralfi in Chattanooga TN poses with bacon in his mouth, a ball on his nose, and a glass of wine on his head.  Adorable pics

amusing election news

With the election behind us, some are happy and some are angry.  A candidate in New Hampshire is both.  He won the election and will be serving a fifth term.  However, he'll also be serving time in jail.  He failed to show up in court in October and there was a bench warrant for his arrest.  When an officer saw him sitting at a polling place and recognized him, Representative Dick Marple was arrested.  He's accused of driving without a valid driver's license.  jail time

dead voters

I've heard a lot of complaints about dead voters.  Someone uses their identity to vote in the hopes of swaying the vote in their candidate's favor.  But now a dead man has been elected.  In Oceanside, CA, the City Treasurer passed away in September but it was too late to remove his name from the ballot.  He won the election but obviously can't serve.  I'm thinking some offices would do well with a dead person at the helm but maybe not the Treasurer.  The City will have to have a special election or appoint someone to take his place.  Dead City official

Hey Queen Elizabeth...sorry about that tea thing

In late October, the Queen of England offered to end the two hundred and forty year experiment in self rule of the United States.  She says that it wouldn't include Parliament...it would just be her.  We could transition back to British rule with a "minimum of bother."  We could say, "hey, Queen Elizabeth, we're sorry about that tea thing; can we come back home now?"  All we needed to do was "write-in" her name for President.  The article of course was written by a comedian so I'm hoping no one really believed it. ring

A man in Germany lost his wedding ring many years ago and thought he would never see it again.  His wife assured him that it would turn up some day.  The man did find it shortly after his golden wedding anniversary.  He found it wrapped around a carrot as he was gardening.  His wife unfortunately died 6 months before the return of the ring.  Maybe it was her way of showing him that she was still with him in spirit?

Kit Kat

A college student in Kansas left his candy bar in the cup holder of his car and ran into his dorm.  When he returned minutes later, the candy was gone and in it's place was a note that said,
"I love Kit Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked. Did not take anything other than the Kit Kat. I am sorry and hungry."
Hershey saw his viral picture of the note on Twitter and responded in a big way.  They delivered 6500 Kit Kats to him on campus.  He filled his car with the candy bars and shared his stash with others.  stolen and returned

hunter

It sucks when the animals start fighting back...a hunter in Oregon killed a bull elk and then...the bull elk tried to kill him.  The man was trying to drag the elk up a small incline when his ATV tipped.  He was thrown backwards and was impaled on the antlers of the animal.  He was in a secluded area so it took rescuers a while to get to him but finally managed to get him to a helicopter.  He's in stable condition.  when dead animals attack

Gumby

A dog in California named Jolene loved her Gumby toy so much that her owner decided to dress up like a life size Gumby toy and surprise her.  The video of this dog lovingly attacking him while in the costume is so funny.  As soon as she sees the life-size Gumby, she runs to it and begins to play. They both end up rolling around on the floor.   watch the video here
