Easton Corbin

The concert Friday night at WSU started with Elenowen. They were laid back and low energy. It was a small crowd but all were excited for the show to start. Elenowen described how they got their name and after half a dozen songs, they yielded the stage to Russell Dickerson. He was high energy from start to finish. A cross-over from country to rock--he never disappointed. From him it went to Easton Corbin. I've seen Easton 3 times now and each time he's been better than the last and he was darn good the first time I saw him. He is amazing and kept the energy going. I'll get pictures up on my facebook page. Find me by searching for Terrie Burbs.

Never joke about...

hijacking a plane or killing the President. A Utah man found this out the hard way. He place a note in his colleague's luggage as a joke before the friend boarded a plane to Arizona. Jeremiah Hill says that he placed the note that said, "1 - Hijack Plane, 2 - Kill Obama" so that it was sticking out and would be discovered before it got this far. Now he's in big trouble with the authorities. joke gone bad

Colton goes home this week

Christian rocker, Colton, headed home in 7th place. He blames his song choice; saying that he strayed too far from who he is. If he had the chance to do it again, he wouldn't pick that song. My guess was either him or Holly would be headed home this week based on the performances from Wednesday night. Colton

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has about 50-60 cars on his property. They are all retired race cars. He's also got three of his very own race tracks. It looks like NASCAR heaven to me. car graveyard

Trouble Shooter opens for LoCash Cowboys

Friday, April 13, was definitely a lucky day. Trouble Shooter took the Stoney Creek Inn stage at 6pm. The crowd had just started filing in so there was plenty of room to spare. By the time Trouble Shooter finished their first song, the space in front of the stage was full. Enthusiasm filled the room even if bodies didn't. As they played on, the number of party goers increased. There was dancing and singing right along with the band. As a performer myself, I know what it's like to play to an enthusiastic crowd--you give back the energy you get. There was definitely a lot of give and take going on. Trouble Shooter was upbeat and energetic and put on a show that was more than fitting for an opening band. Job well done guys!!
By about 8pm, the LoCash Cowboys were ready to take over and continue pumping up the crowd. Their high energy was evident as soon as they came on stage. Goosebump producing harmonies filled the air. Their new song, COUNTRY, was amazing! Now the room was full of screaming fans and they pressed forward towards the stage. From my vantage point in the front row, I got several awesome pictures and will be posting them on my facebook page (Terrie Burbs).

SIDS blanket

Students at Winona State University have developed a "miracle" blanket that may saves the lives of babies. It detects heart rate, breathing, and movement. If a problem arises; parents, doctors, and emergency response can be alerted. It is still in the development stage but the three students hope to move forward in a competition for designing products that solve a global problem. Their ultimate goal, of course, is to prevent SIDS deaths. WSU team

Keith Moon invited to play at Olympics

The problem with this, as we all know, is that Keith is now in that "hell of a band" in heaven. He left us 34 years ago but apparently the Olympic organizers didn't get the memo.

Bill Curbishley responded:

"Keith now resides in Golders Green crematorium, having lived up to The Who's anthemic line 'I hope I die before I get old.' If they have a round table, some glasses and candles, we might contact him."

Ashley Judd is my hero

Because of some steroid medication doctor's prescribed for Ashley Judd, she has put on a little weight. Any of us who have to take this medication know that the weight issue is unavoidable. The taunts, looks of disgust, and well-meaning advice comes from lots of folks. Ashley has lashed out at her critics about their nasty comments. She intends to get the conversation started that will stop all of this shaming. I know from experience, shaming doesn't help anyone. Ashley Judd

$12,000 tip

A waitress in Minnesota thought that her money troubles were over when she received a $12,000 tip from a customer. Stacy Knutson wanted to do the right thing though and turned the money into the police. Now her miracle is fading fast. The police claim that there is a smell of pot on the money and therefore it is drug money. This means that she will not get any of that money. Makes you wonder if she should've just kept her mouth shut and kept the cash. big tip
UPDATE: Stacy will be getting her money back!!
