Jon Crow from Brooklyn didn't like that dogs were going potty on the trees in his neighborhood.  He decided to do something about it.  He used plastic pools and sled saucers to make portable potty spots filling them with gravel, soil, and sod.  With holes in the bottom, the smell is washed away and the trees are saved.  His block is now a contender in this year's Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest.  potty spots

Bob Saget's book

A lot of people use comedy to cope with difficult situations.  They joke about things that others don't think are funny.  I'm one of those people.  I just had a discussion about this with someone who thinks my humor is wrong.  I disagree!  Bob describes dark comedy as a survival instinct.  This is one book that I can't wait to read.  humor

fixed tattoo

A Nintendo fan had a tattoo on his arm but it was horrible.  Tattoo artist Lindsay Baker knew just how to fix it without covering anything.  She added a professional picture of Pikachu and a paint brush.  The bad picture was encased to make it look like it was on canvas.  Pikachu had a bottle of beer next to him and was drunk when he painted a self portrait.  tattoo fail is fixed

Four brothers mow a lawn

The Reynolds brothers heard a news story about a 75-year-old woman who was in trouble because her lawn wasn't mowed.  An arrest warrant had been issued for Gerry Suttle when she didn't appear in court to explain why her grass was higher than allowed.  The boys decided to go mow the lot even though they had never met the woman.  After getting started, others joined and it was done within a couple hours.  Gerry must now contact the judge to see if the warrant can be canceled.  mowing

A Northern California bus driver is being called a hero after he helped rescue a kidnapped 3-year-old boy.  Tim Watson recognized the little boy who was sitting with a man on his bus.  The boy was crying.  Tim decided to stall for time by pretending to look through the bus for a lost green backpack.  That gave him enough time to call authorities who were waiting when he pulled into his next stop.  The 23-year-old suspect was arrested after officers pried the boy out of his arms.  hero bus driver

white-faced deer

A rare fawn was born at Deer Tracks Junction in Michigan.  It has a white face and a pink nose.  The mother rejected it because of her natural instincts.  Without the proper camouflage, they would not be able to hide from predators so she had no choice.  Luckily for "Dragon," she will be well taken care of by Deer Tracks Junction.  rare deer

fun museum

If you're visiting the St. Louis area, there's a museum that is a must see.  It's built in an old shoe factory and it uses recycled materials from around the St. Louis area.  The cost is only $12 and the place is a whole bunch of fun!  It's been called the "Jungle Gym of your Dreams."  The creators are constantly adding to the building since it's conception in 1997 and they're still using discarded materials.  unique museum

phone calls from beyond?

In September 2008, a train accident killed Charles E. Peck.  His body wasn't found until 12 hours after the accident when it was determined that he died upon impact.  His cell phone however continued dialing family members for 11 hours.  When the calls were answered, there was only static and attempts to return the calls only resulted in getting to his voice mail.  An hour before his body was found, the calls stopped.  eerie calls

In Grand Rapids, Michigan, a call came into police dispatch claiming there was a tiger in the backyard of a neighboring house.  When the officer arrived, he snapped a picture of the tiger.  He then called for some backup to help capture it.  When the 2nd animal control officer arrived, she went closer and discovered that it was actually a large stuffed animal.  The animal was easily captured and taken into custody.  No one has come forward to claim their "pet."  backyard tiger
