How to get an alligator away from your golf ball...

PGA player, John Peterson, had to decide what to do when he found himself in this predicament.  An alligator was sitting next to his golf ball.  His mouth a mere inches from it.  What would be the correct course of action?  Certainly not hit the ball where it lies because the alligator may bite.  John decided to get his bunker rake and shoo away the alligator.  It worked...the alligator obviously thought the yummy looking white object wasn't worth all the hassle and crawled back into the lake.  alligator

dolphins to the rescue

A long distance swimmer in Britain was saved by a group of dolphins.  He was in the middle of a 16-mile swim in New Zealand's Cook Strait.  A shark seemed to be following him but the swimmer wasn't the only one who noticed this.  A pod of dolphins came to his aid, surrounded him, and stayed with him until the shark swam off.  Maybe the dolphins knew that he was raising money for the Whale and Dolphins conservation.  rescue dolphins

bad parent/good parent

A bad parent puts one of his kids in a toy car and lets another one ride on top and go careening down a hill.  A good parent then rushes to stop the speeding car before his kids get hurt including a third one in front of the speeding car.

Guess he should've thought about the dangers before letting them go for it.  At least he was there to rescue them from a crash.  dad stops toy car

It's not a "hunny" pot but...

Winnie the Pooh is famous for getting his head stuck in a hunny pot just to get the last drops of honey from the jar.  Real life seems to imitate art at least in a Canadian town.  A bear was trying to get the last of the bird feed from a jar and then couldn't get the thing off his head.  It wandered around until it bumped into a cop car.  The bear was tranquilized so the jar could be removed.  head stuck

deployed soldier fighting to regain house

Sgt. Michael Sharkey was deployed to Afghanistan 2 years ago and left a friend to watch over his house.  Mrs. Sharkey was in Hawaii  as that's where Sharkey is stationed so there's no one living in the house.  Apparently the friend made an agreement with a couple of unsavory individuals.  She let them live in the house while they fixed it up.  Unfortunately the couple now refuses to leave.  They've changed the locks and it appears that the sheriff's department can't do anything about it.  soldier wants squatters out

murder tattoo

Jeffrey Chapman decided at one point in his life that it was a good idea to get a mirror image of "murder" tattooed on his neck.  He's rethinking that bad decision now and wants to get it removed.  Should be an easy task but not for an inmate facing a murder charge.  In Kansas only a licensed tattoo artist in a licensed facility can do tattoos and the sheriff isn't willing to transport a murder suspect to a tattoo parlor.  Chapman's defense team believes the tattoo may sway the jury's opinion of him.  There's a definition of ironic!  bad tattoo

It's always good to have a 6-pack in a fight.

I'm not talking about the kind of muscles that form a 6-pack; I'm talking about beer.  Two men discovered that a woman was being attacked by a pit bull terrier.  It was chewing on her face and attacking viciously.  Justin Innes tried to break the dog's grasp but was unable to do so.  He asked his son, Jacob for one of the beers from the 6-pack and used it to hit the dog.  Jacob then joined in with the other 5 beers.  They managed to free the 90-year old woman who is now hospitalized in critical condition.  6-pack defeats dog

Nessie, is that you?

Apple Maps is getting a lot of publicity.  Why?  Because the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club has claimed that one of their photos reveals the presence of Nessie.  The picture shows a mysterious white blob under the waters of Loch Ness.  It shows what appears to be a pair of flippers at it's side.  Is this the proof that Nessie exists?

Cat lands on it's feet

When firefighters broke a window on the third floor of a burning building, they were surprised to see a cat jump, land on it's feet, and run away.  Most cats do land on their feet but not always from that high.  I guess this feline has used up one of it's nine lives.  Cat survives

Star Wars

Has the filming of the new Star Wars movie begun?  What some are calling "set pictures," have surfaced from a remote area of the Abu Dhabi desert.  No one in the area claims to know anything about it but some Star Wars bloggers are speculating about what the large mechanical pieces are.  Could the large grey disc be the foot of an "At-At?"  Star Wars VII

trash or treasure

A man working at a recycling plant found a safe that had been discarded.  He decided to open it; jokingly thinking that there might be a million dollars inside.  What he found was considerably less but still a lot of money; $16,000.  His first thought was to keep it and take his wife on a nice vacation but decided to find the owner and return the cash. cash in dump

sound canon

Driving through construction zones in Missouri just got scary.  Sound canons will be fired at speeders to let them know they're going too fast.  It will give off a deafening sound but opponents are claiming that it could cause more problems than it hopes to solve.  slowing traffic

wallet returned

When Christhian Reyes lost his wallet, he didn't expect to get it back the way it was returned.  A good samaritan added $20 and a note to the wallet before returning it to Christhian's school.  The note asks Christhian to pay it forward some day and do something nice for someone else.  Christhian plans to do just that.  returned wallet

Boston Strong Ducks

Rubber ducks have helped cheer up children at Sandy Hook and now they're being used to help people remember and "pay it forward" in honor of the Boston Marathon tragedy.  Lori Tosches loved to cheer on the runners from the starting line of the marathon.  But after the bombings, she wanted to do more.  She started a facebook page and scattered ducks around the start line with the page address on them.
That started a series of random acts of kindness all over the world.  She started out by footing the bill for the ducks but now charges $5 each with part of the money going to the Boston victims.  Recipients of the ducks have been sending pictures to show how they have paid it forward with the Boston Strong Ducks.  On April 20, 2014, Lori will once again be at the starting line with ducks in tow.  Boston Strong Ducks

cloned pooch

There's a place in South Korea that will clone your pet for a mere $100,000.  A contest in the UK gave one lucky person the chance to make that happen at no charge.  Rebecca Smith won and got a tiny replica of her beloved wiener pooch, Winnie.  Mini Winnie was born on March 30.  Winnie

Corvettes

All 8 of the Corvettes that plunged into a sinkhole have been rescued.  Workers could see that the damage to each car got worse as they pulled them out.  The final car looks like a pile of thin aluminum.  General Motors has vowed to restore each of the cars but this last one is going to take a lot more work.  Corvettes

Rascal Flatts

Rascal Flatts admits to lip-synching at the ACM Awards and they apologized for it immediately.  Gary LeVox, lead singer, lost his voice before the telecast and couldn't back out so this is what they came up with.  But apparently they weren't very good at it.  They claim they won't be doing that again.  lip-synching

hot wedding

A couple was married and then everything got hot.  They had just said "I do" and were heading out of the venue when the the justice of the peace noticed smoke and an odd smell.  The building was on fire.  Luckily everyone got out safely.  The building didn't fare too well; it will have to be demolished.  That's definitely a hot start to their life together.  hot end to wedding

best April Fool's joke

A Professor had a rule that if a phone rang in class, it had to be answered on speaker.  The class decided to pull a prank on the professor by having a phone ring and on the other end would be a man claiming to be from a pregnancy center confirming that the girl's pregnancy test is positive.  The girl said that she already knew what she was going to name the baby...first name "April" and middle name "Fools." He did end up laughing along with the class when the joke was revealed but he has since changed his policy. April Fools joke

E-cigarettes

E-cigarettes are becoming popular as an alternative to smoking.  While I applaud anything that will get people to stop smoking, I'm not real sure that this is the answer.  I have found that the vapor still affects my asthma so I can't be near anyone smoking an e-cigarette.  Now the CDC says that there are increases in the number of calls coming in about nicotine poisoning from the nicotine liquid.  Even children are getting into the stuff.  A person can start to feel sick within minutes of being exposed to the liquid.  e-cigs

Cat sleeps in couch

The owners of the cat and the couch didn't realize that the cat had crawled in to take a nap.  They partially dismantled the couch and donated it to a London thrift store.  It was purchased and taken home.  The new owners heard a meow coming from inside the couch and did the only thing they could to save the cat--tore apart their couch.  The cat spent 5 days trapped in the couch and has been returned to it's owner.  trapped cat

UFOs checking out deer?

Trail cameras in Mississippi caught a strange sight.  A couple lights flying in the air; shining on some deer, and then flying off.  No one seems to know what it is.  The camera does not emit any light because it's infrared.  And there's no road there so it couldn't be anything driving.  video

saved by daughter

Roger Huff is the kind of guy who would help his neighbors even if it meant risking his own life.  He did just that when he heard his neighbor yell for help with a fire.  Unfortunately, Roger was overcome by heavy smoke and fell to the floor of the neighbor's house.  His daughter, Ashleigh, saw him go down and knew she had to do something.  With the help from the neighbor, Ashleigh managed to drag her dad out and then give him CPR.  Roger is very proud of his baby girl for saving his life.  brave daughter

An amazing woman

Elizabeth Joice found that she was pregnant even though doctors thought that wouldn't be possible.  After receiving chemotherapy in 2010, getting pregnant was like a miracle to her and her husband.  But the cancer returned.  Getting an MRI would probably cause damage to the unborn child so Elizabeth chose to forego the procedure.  She chose the child over her own health.  Doctors moved the date of her C-section to an earlier date so they could treat Elizabeth for the cancer.  Unfortunately, it was too late.  Elizabeth had truly given up her life for her child.  Joice

peanut butter and jelly

It's National Peanut Butter and Jelly day (April 2).  They could be the most famous couple in history.  Even Barbie and Ken didn't last this long.  And if you don't like spreading peanut butter and jelly separately; Goober was introduced in 1968.  Some even add marshmallow fluff, bananas, honey, maple syrup, hazelnut spread, raisins, cheese, potato chips, bacon, pickles, and onions.  I'll just have jelly...thanks.

KISS

All members of KISS will be in attendance except the elusive Vinnie Vincent at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.  Only the original 4 will be inducted though.  None of the members will perform because KISS couldn't agree who would be allowed to play.  If the original 4 are being inducted, I think it should be the original 4 that play.  Just my humble opinion though.  KISS

How I Met Your Mother

It all came to a conclusion last night.  I like the show and have been watching it from the beginning so I absolutely had to watch the ending.  At the half hour mark, there was a cliff hanger.  I was watching with my son and we both expressed our dismay at how it ended.  But wait...it was an hour long show.  We breathed a sigh of relief.  But then began the rollercoaster of emotions.  Barney and Robin finally got married but after 3 years they divorced and Robin was distant from the group.  Ted did finally marry the woman with the yellow umbrella, Tracey, and we saw how all the loose ends tied together.  It would've been good to end there but NOOOOOO.......they had to add one more twist.  Tracey died 6 years ago and Ted was telling his kids about their mother.  The kids, however, saw the story as different from that.  It was the story of how their dad, Ted, was still in love with Aunt Robin and they insist and give him permission to start dating Robin and the show ends with Ted at Robin's door.  HIMYM
