hero

A teen came upon a couple arguing and he could see fear in the woman's face so he decided to get involved.  He didn't confront anyone; instead he became the man's friend.  He even bought them bus tickets and then traveled with them.  After reaching their destination, he took the couple out to dinner and gave them money.  During dinner, he slipped away to call the police who showed up and arrested the man.  Even though Malyk Bonnet didn't know it, he had just saved a woman from a kidnapping.  The police have raised money to reimburse Malyk for the money he spent on the couple and plan to give him an award.  The woman is very grateful for being rescued from her ex.  another hero

jail time for a color

The Stout family live in an area that is governed by a homeowner's association.  There are a lot of rules but they have followed all of them until they painted their daughters' swing set purple.  Now they're involved in a lawsuit that could end them in jail.  Why is the color purple offensive to the association?  Because it isn't harmonious with the surrounding community.  What?  That's just crazy to possibly go to jail over something so silly.  The homeowner's association needs to get over themselves.  wrong color

no smoking in cars

The UK has passed a law that will protect children from harmful chemicals.  Any adult (17 or older) caught smoking in a car with a minor present will be fined.  The only exception is a convertible with the top down.  Even if the windows are open, air conditioning is running, or sitting with the door open, it's still a ticket-able offense.  Now if only the US would follow suit.  smoking law

photobombed

Two girls were being interviewed about their yoga event.  It was a televised interview at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Denver Colorado.  The camera man warns them that they are being photobombed.  One of the girls even tells the nuisance to go away.  What they didn't realize is that it was Sam Smith who was set to perform at the venue later and was just checking it out when he started hamming it up for the camera behind the girls.  He later posted on instagram about it.  celebrity photobomb

real life "Up" house

Edith Macefield owned the house until the day she died.  She was offered a million dollars at one point to sell the house so that developers could build there.  Instead they built around her house.  Now the house is being saved.  It won't fly away as it did in the movie but it will be placed in a new location for a family in need.  "The Tough Old Woman in a Little Old House" wins!  She didn't care about the money; she just wanted to live out her life in the house where all of her memories were made.  house

Walter Palmer

By now most have heard his name; Walter Palmer is the killer of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe.  But there's another Walter Palmer that lives just 12 miles from the dentist who is in the news.  This Walter Palmer also loves his trips to Africa to shoot animals but he uses a camera only.  Unfortunately he's getting a lot of angry calls because people think he's the one who killed Cecil.  Another Walter Palmer

US is not so friendly to robot

Hitchbot made it safely across Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands but just two weeks after starting it's journey in the US, it was beheaded and left in a pile.
Hitchbot cannot travel on it's own but relies on the kindness of people to move it from place to place.  It records it's journeys and all of the kindness it meets along the way.  Apparently the US isn't ready for showing kindness. Hopefully those responsible are rare and not the norm here.  hitchbot
