Pokemon Go makers will have to pay

Milwaukee County has issued a new ordinance that will make Pokemon Go's makers pay to play.  They will be forced to apply for permits just as anyone else who wants to host events at the parks.  The fees will depend on the size of the crowd expected and how much of the park will be used.  pokemon players

rat girls

Roommates in Pittsburgh discovered a rat in their upstairs bathroom and came up with a plan to get rid of it and it actually worked.  One scares the rat out of the tub, then another stands on a bucket and swats it down the stairs with a mop, and the third one uses a broom to slap shot the rat out of the house.  They posted a video
to Twitter which quickly went viral.

Trump's star

A man smashed Donald Trump's star on the walk of fame just a week before Trump was elected.  He used a pickax and a sledgehammer to do considerable damage to the star.  He's agreed to pay $4400 for the repairs and will be doing community service.  He said that he had originally planned to steal the star and give the money to the women who claim Trump groped them.  The star has been replaced.  damage to Trump's star

good catch

A skydiving instructor has good reflexes.  He caught a falling toddler with just one hand.  Jesse Leos was working at a skydiving company in Texas when a toddler fell off the counter.  Out of instinct, Jesse reached out and caught the youngster before his head hit the floor.  Jesse says that his reflexes are honed because of skydiving and time in the wind tunnel.  toddler's hero

infidelity scam

Blackmailers have taken to sending out letters to try to get money from people they say have been caught cheating on their spouse.  One man who received one of the letters was amused by it because he's single.  He wondered where this nonexistant wife was.  Many residents in Virginia have gotten the letters and the local police warn that it's a scam and money should not be paid.  They also say that family members should not take these letters as proof that someone has cheated.  blackmail

cops' sense of humor

Two cows escaped from their pen in a field near Suffield Connecticut.  They were seen walking through yards and along side roads.  A picture of the two fugitives was taken by police and posted to their facebook page along with the caption,

"two 'suspicious males' were going door-to-door 'trying to sell dairy products.' They were 'apprehended after a short foot pursuit.'"

Girl Scout cookie time

Girl Scout cookies are being sold around the country.  The girls are hawking their wares in neighborhoods and outside local stores.  They're attracting more than hungry buyers though.  Crooks have taken to stealing cash from the tiny entrepeneurs.  Police in Union, CA decided to help a girl who was robbed at gunpoint.  They raised enough money to cover what the thief stole and to buy the rest of her cookies.  After a similar theft in Denver, the store reimbursed the girl scout for the money she lost.  lowest of thieves

tortoise and the hare

According to the fable, the toroise wins the race...slow and steady.  The hare in it's cockiness, loses the race.  Now we have a real life answer.  Super Deluxe, an entertainment company, live-streamed a race between a real life tortoise and hare.  It lasted about 40 minutes.  There was plenty of drama and both stopped short of the finish line and made detours; but eventually the tortoise won the race.  winner

parking on the stairs

It's not a usual place to find a parked car but that's what happened in Central London.  A male driver became confused and took a wrong turn landing his car on some steps.  It got stuck and was there for at least 12 hours before police were able to remove it.  You'd think that alcohol had been involved but the driver was given a breath test and it was negative.  Police issued a warning but didn't arrest him.  confused driver

wandering rooster

A rooster showed up at a gas station in Michigan.  It ate some of the deer feed that was there and when it was gone, the workers thought the rooster would leave but it didn't.  So they named it "Kevin" and decided to keep it.  Kevin has become very popular with customers and now has a box coop for it's home.  A local woman brought some hay for Kevin and apparently he loves peanut butter crackers.  Kevin reminds me of Wendy.  I had a hen show up at my house one day and we have kept her.  She lives in a very large dog kennel with two houses inside and plenty of perches.  We've given her a heating lamp and lots of hay.  Wendy doesn't get any peanut butter crackers but she does get cracked corn every day, bread, and in the summer time...plenty of bugs.  Kevin

returned stolen vehicle

A man in Riverside CA stole a vehicle from a mortuary.  He decided to return it when he discovered there was a body in the back.  But then he stole another vehicle from the business and almost ran over an employee who tried to stop him.  Police say he won't be charged with stealing the body because they believe he didn't mean to steal it.  What did he expect when he stole a van from a mortuary?  Another idiot is among us.  grand theft auto

transporting drugs

A drug dealer with a load of drugs in his vehicle shouldn't call the police because they're going to discover the stash.  A Utah man called police because he was paranoid about two vehicles following him.  He was acting erratically so the police had cause to search his truck and they found $500,000 worth of methamphetamine hidden in food jars.  Busted

crawling thief

A man was caught on camera stealing magazines from a shop in Britain.  The videos show him holding open the door with a package of toilet paper and then getting on his hands and knees, crawling into the store, and stealing little girls' magazines.  He came back two more times getting away with it until the third time when a store employee blocked him from coming in and removing the toilet paper door jam.  When the employee confronted him, he froze in place...maybe thinking if he didn't move, he wouldn't be noticed.  Silly man.  And why little girl magazines?  Definitely something wrong with that guy.  video

80-year-old woman attempts to take a sword on flight

It all happened at South Carolina's Myrtle Beach International Airport.  The woman was catching a flight and her cane had to go through the x-ray machine.  That's where the sword was discovered. The woman had no clue that the weapon was there.  The cane was a gift from her son and she had used it for years without knowing of it's contents.  She surrendered the cane and was able to board her flight.  Lesson of the day:  know what you're carrying before you get to the airport.  sword

another drug bust

This time the would-be drug dealers hid the drugs in a shipment of wigs and extensions.  If it doesn't work with fruit, it's not going to work with wigs either.  This shipment wasn't coming across the Mexico border though.  It was at the Pittsburgh International Airport which is rare but thanks to some astute customs and border officers, these drugs won't be hitting the streets.  wigs, extensions, and drugs

real life imitates art

A small town in Oklahoma has to cancel a Valentine's Day dance because of an old city ordinance that says a dance cannot be within 500 feet of a place of worship.  The planned dance would've been within 300 feet of a church.  The mayor knew about the ordinance but it has never been enforced before.  And the police chief says that he has no intention of enforcing it now.  The city council will move to abolish the ordinance during their February 22 meeting.  Wonder if they can find a warehouse outside of town for the dance.  footloose story

limes

It didn't work with watermelons and it's not going to work with limes.  Drugs cannot be disguised like fruit and make it by the drug sniffing dogs.  They don't care what it looks like...only what it smells like.  Nearly 4,000 pounds of marijuana was seized after the dogs alerted officials.  box of limes

pickup crushes car

You'd think when a pickup crushes a car, it would be at a monster truck show.  But an 18 year old in Florida was driving his pickup when another driver started driving erratically.  Zach Waring accused the Toyota driver of nearly causing accidents.  A fight broke out when the Toyota driver came to Zach's window while they were at a stop light.  He then went back to his car to get a gun.  Zach was unable to move forward because of the stopped traffic, so he backed up...on top of the Toyota.  He was not charged because witnesses corroborated his story.  The driver of the Toyota however, was charged with burglary, battery, driving with a suspended license, and criminal mischief.  stupid driver

Oreo beer?

A brewery in Virginia has created a beer flavored like Oreo cookies.  The fermented their chocolate milk stout in hundreds of pounds of Oreos to give it the unique flavor.  They only released a limited amount and it sold out quickly.  The company tells those that bought it to please keep it cold because of all the sugars.  Wonder if they'll be making more.  Would you try a cookie flavored beer?
