movie almost feels real

During the end of the world scene in the new Noah movie, an earthquake hit Los Angeles giving the moviegoers the feeling of reality.  Some thought that it was really good surround sound until they realized it was a real earthquake.  Luckily it caused no major damage or injuries.  earthquake timing

Cat nurses pups

A couple of chihuahua's were born prematurely and likely would've died because the mom rejected them.  Five pups were born; two died and one had to be put down because of health issues.  The other two were taken in by the mother cat even though she's feeding her own litter.  After three weeks, if the puppies survive, they'll be put up for adoption to find furever homes.  watch the video

Rule change

Monopoly may have a rule change coming.  But don't worry, it will only be an optional change.  Hasbro has decided to take votes on which "house rule" should be included in the future.  Which rule would you like to see?  new rule

May the Fourth

May the Fourth be with you...it's the official Stars Wars Day.  I love Star Wars so this day is awesome for me.  Minor League Baseball teams seem to be getting into the fun of it as well.  New uniforms for some of the teams have been revealed.  A couple are R2-D2 inspired; one looks a lot like Vader; and another looks like it was designed around Chewbacca.  Star Wars uniforms

backpack can return to school

The young boy who was told not to bring his "My Little Pony" backpack to school has gotten permission to bring it back.  The boy was getting bullied because he carries the backpack and has other "My Little Pony" things.  The school's response was for him to not bring the backpack to school...the response to their actions brought an outcry from the public.  What about the bullies?  Shouldn't there be something done to curb the bullying other than blaming the victim?  Hopefully these new developments will fix things at his school.  Bullying should not be tolerated anywhere!  backpack

Michael Waltrip and Donna Summer

Did Michael actually think he was talking to Donna Summer at the race on Sunday?  Or was it a terrible joke?  We may never know; but Michael can be quirky at times and that's what makes him loveable as far as I'm concerned.  Michael's walk video

Friends

A chicken and a chihuahua have become best of friends.  The chicken, named Penny, was used for research until it was no longer needed.  The chihuahua was born with only two legs and was found in a ditch.  The two have been adopted by Alicia Williams.  They go to work with her at the Duluth Animal Hospital in Georgia.  They've gotten a lot of attention after the hospital has posted pictures of the pair on their facebook page.  chicken and chihuahua

school's answer to bullying

When 9-year old Grayson Bruce was being bullied because of his "My Little Pony" backpack, his mother complained to the school.  Their response?  Don't bring the backpack to school.  WHAT??  Are they serious?  Shouldn't they be dealing with the bullies instead of telling this poor kid that if he doesn't want to be bullied, don't bring the backpack?  That's like telling a woman not to wear revealing clothes if she doesn't want to be assaulted.  That's the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard.  bullying because of a backpack

Go on vacation, lose house

Mel and Harriet went on vacation to New York but when they returned to their Florida home, they found the locks changed, power turned off, and things missing.  They thought they had been robbed but instead it was a bank.  Even though their mortgage was paid off for 15 years, the bank mistakenly claimed it was in foreclosure.  When in fact, they had just gone to the wrong house.  mess

$800 cab ride

What does it cost to go a couple miles in Chicago while riding in a cab?  How about $800?  That's what it cost a college student.  The cab driver took her credit card and swiped it on his Square.  Becky signed with her finger after the driver told her it would be less than $10.  She even gave him a $2 tip.  But when the statement arrived, it wasn't $12 or less, it was almost $800.  Because she signed, it looked like she was going to have to pay it.  Even the police couldn't help her so she turned to a local paper's "What's your problem?"  This got action.  Square has promised a refund and the driver has temporarily lost his license until an investigation is complete.  expensive ride

Hank heads to Milwaukee

Hank is the little dog that showed up at the Brewer's training camp and quickly became one of the team.  Team members found the dog wandering on it's own.  He was dirty and had appeared to be injured from being run over.  They took him to a vet and then put up fliers about the lost pet.  If no one came to claim him, they decided he would go home to Wisconsin with the team.  So now Hank will be on the charter flight with the team and has a new family waiting for him when he arrives.  The Brewers hope that this will help bring to light the problem with some animals needing homes.  Hank's happy ending

"new student" shows up at school by herself

A kindergartner got on the wrong school bus and ended up at a school about two miles from where she was supposed to be.  Yates Magnet Elementary School assumed that she was their new first grader who was scheduled to start that day.  The kindergartner spent the day at Yates answering to the other name and even writing it on her papers.  The girl's mother was frantic when she learned that her daughter had not made it to school that day and the search began.  She's grateful that her daughter was found but is still concerned that something like this could happen.  wrong school

rescue puppy rescues

Two weeks after being rescued from a shelter, Hunter, a 3-month old Husky mix saved his adoptive family.  He whined nonstop starting at about midnight until his owner finally followed him to the stove where it was discovered that a burner had been left on just enough to let gas leak.  The family estimated that it had been that way for about 6 hours because that's when they had made dinner.  hero puppy

Jon Stewart

Paul Ryan has been caught in a lie.  Surprising for a politician, right?  Paul told a story about a young boy who wanted a brown bag lunch instead of his free lunch because his bag lunch showed that someone at home loved him.  He claims that the story came from a Cabinet Member of Scott Walker.  However, Jon Stewart has revealed the true story.  The young boy is actually a grown man now and advocates for school lunch programs.  The story comes from this young man's book.  And this is not the first time Paul Ryan's been caught in a lie.  video

Skydiver's close call

Jumping out of a perfectly good plane is a choice made by some adventurous souls.  But then getting hit by another plane on the way down is definitely not in the plan.  John Frost was coming in for his landing when he realized there was a small plane coming straight for him.  There's not much he could do but hope he didn't get into the propeller.  He says that he plans to jump again.  plane/skydiver collision

another batkid surprise

Batkid was scheduled to be at the Oscars where Andrew Garfield, the actor that plays Spiderman was to make 5-year-old Miles Scott an honorary superhero.  At the last minute, the appearance was canceled.  Rumors ran wild in the tabloids that Garfield didn't like the script so he backed out but as the tabloids usually are wrong, they were once again.  Andrew Garfield stepped up in true Spiderman fashion and accompanied Miles and his family to Disneyland on Monday.  He also held a small ceremony in the family's hotel room to grant Miles his superhero status.  batkid

bracelet found

After losing a very special bracelet in the ocean, Chris Kelley thought he would never see it again. The inscription on the bracelet gave tribute to four Army soldiers killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq.   But 3 years later, it mysteriously washed ashore 240 miles from where it was lost.  Yasmine Todhunter found the bracelet and after reading the inscription on it, she set out to find the owner.  Chris and two of the widows will retrieve the bracelet from Yasmine and are very grateful to her for taking the time to return it.  bracelet

normal sized Barbie

What is normal?  I don't think the answer is the same for everyone.  But a Barbie with more realistic proportions may be coming to store shelves.  It's supposed to give girls a better sense of what most women look like at age 19.  new Barbie

dog and cat bond

After their family moved away, a one-year-old long haired chihuahua was left behind with a 5-month-old kitten.  The dog and cat had an instant bond and the dog was found nursing the kitten. A neighbor heard them from the backyard and got them to a shelter.  An adoptive furever home is being sought for the pair.  unlikely pair

old letter

In Florida, a woman from Texas bought a book at a Goodwill Store.  Inside the book she found an unopened love letter dated 1945.  She is now on a quest to find the people to whom the letter belongs and get it back to them or their families.  Her plan is to return the letter in it's unopened condition because it is a personal message meant only for the two involved.  letter

Tinney waves at students as they walk by her house on their way to school.  Her husband would also wave but he passed away a couple years ago so now Tinney waves alone.  The students appreciate her small kind gesture so much that they decided to honor her at a school assembly.  school assembly video
