Route 66

Because of one man's dedication to a highway, Route 66 stills exists today. Angel Delgadillo is truly the "angel" of Route 66. After I-40 was built, Route 66 was all but forgotten--Angel couldn't let that happen. He was born in a house on Route 66 just months after it was built. He opened a barber shop, a pool hall, and now a gift shop along the route. His children are the ones who run the gift shop now but he still spends his time there; meeting tourists; and taking pictures with them. historic Route 66

Gamer Christina Aguilera

Christina admits that she's very competitive and loves to play games--anything from board games to old video games. Target is her favorite store because they carry lots of games. She plays games to pass the time even when she's on tour but finds less time to play those games now that she has a family. The type of game has changed but she still enjoys playing video games at home especially when guests come over and want to replace her name from the leader board. gaming Christina

Graffiti

LaCrosse and Winona are not immune--we have been hit. But this time it's not the graffiti you would normally imagine. Both cities have been "yarn bombed." A group of masked yarners were caught in Riverside Park by a City Parks and Recreation employee. No one has claimed responsibility for the Winona "yarn bombing" as of yet. Knitted scarves, hats, monster feet, carrots, etc. have adorned poles, statues, and buildings. The yarners plan to continue but will stay anonymous. They've only heard positive feedback so far from their yarn exploits. Bluffside Bombers

Unlikely hero--Giant Tortoises

Aldabra giant tortoises have been introduced to the tiny island of Ile aux Aigrettes, off the coast of the island nation of Mauritius. The indigenous tortoises are extinct and this was causing the ecosystem to degrade. The Aldabra are closely related to the original inhabitants and hopefully will restore the natural order of the island. tortoises
