puppies saved

Students at a University in central China saved 7 puppies after seeing security guards bury them alive.  Strays have been a problem at the University and have been subjected to beatings and burials to eradicate the problem.  The students feel there is a more humane way to handle the problem so they were quick to rescue the puppies when they realized what was happening.  Some have criticized them for their actions but animal activists are calling them heroes.  puppies rescued

facebook hoax

Once again Facebook is being plastered with legal looking posts about privacy.  If you don't copy and paste it within 24 hours, all of your posts will be made public.  But if you pay $5.99 per month, they can stay private.  This is not true and never will be true.  It's just another one of those chain letter type posts that I hate.  hoax

Wayne Newton museum

Wayne Newton was forced to move out of his mansion in Las Vegas and it was put on the market.  The price had been reduced drastically but still wasn't sold.  Wayne has now made a deal to lease the property and open a museum.  So he and his family have returned to Casa de Shanandoah.  museum

dog safe

The fires in California are destroying property and lives.  Many have had to be evacuated and some had to leave animals behind.  Lawrence Ross ended up at a shelter not knowing what had happened to his dog.  Brian Skoloff is a reporter who was heading into the area of Ross' home and decided to look for the dog.  He found Thumper after whistling for him.  The dog was reunited with Ross at the shelter.  safe

Vikings mascot

The Vikings no longer have a mascot.  For the past two decades, Ragnar has ridden out on a motorcycle clad in fur for all home Vikings games.  He was paid $1500 for each game and decided that he wanted $20,000 instead.  That's a huge pay raise...the Vikings organization obviously said "no" to him.  So Ragnar is no more.  How about a Ragnarette?  I can ride and wear fur lol.  greedy mascot

dog's life saved

A pilot flying from Tel-Aviv to Toronto realized that the heating system in the cargo hold was not working and he knew that there was a dog down there.  Instead of knowingly letting the dog freeze to death, he diverted the plain to Frankfurt.  His efforts saved the dog's life.  None of the passengers complained about the 75 minute delay and Air Canada is getting lots of praise for the captain's actions.  The dog's owner is extremely grateful to have his "child" back safely.  It cost the airline about $10,000 extra in fuel but an airline spokesperson said that everyone was very understanding especially when they learned that a dog's life was at stake.  saved dog

I hate pranks

Elton John was pranked.  Someone called him claiming to be Vladimir Putin saying that they wanted to discuss gay rights with him.  Of course Elton would be excited about the prospect...who wouldn't be?  But it was all a prank by a couple of comedians who have now admitted to it.  I really don't find this funny and I don't see how they could do something so cruel.  This is just another form a bullying and it has to stop.  prank

bears like pizza?

A young cub wandered into a pizzeria in Colorado to take a nap.  There was an open door and the bear decided this was the place to go.  It climbed onto a shelf in the back office and took a snooze.  It is malnourished and has a wound on it's paw but will be taken to a rehabilitation center.  Hopefully after it recovers, it will be reintroduced into the wild.  Bear

restored Corvette

Eighteen months ago, eight Corvettes fell into a sinkhole at the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky.  Some have been restored and some will remain as they were when pulled from the sinkhole.  One Corvette that was destined to be restored is the 1 Millionth Corvette ever built.  It was customized with the signatures of every one who helped build it.  The GM Tech Center in Warren, Michigan has returned the car to the museum completely restored.  30 workers painstakingly studied every detail of the car and used all the parts that could be salvaged.  Even the signatures were saved except for three.  Two of those were scanned and applied to replacement parts.  One was from a worker who was still working for GM so she re-signed the part.  Corvette

fishermen's catch

Two fishermen got a surprising catch when they scooped two kittens out of the water.  One kitten swam towards them and was rescued and that seemed to prompt the other kitten to jump in the water and swim to the boat as well.  Both kittens found a new home when the fishermen reached shore.  "cat" fish
