put a ring on it

A man wanted an unusual wedding ceremony so he went to Las Vegas to make it happen.  He married his smartphone.  The owner of the wedding chapel was actually excited to perform the ceremony.  What's next?  Smartphone Jr.?  weird wedding

gamer

A man in China went on a gaming binge for 6 days.  Because he didn't eat, sleep, or clean up during those 6 days, his feet started to rot.  Police say that it was lucky they found the man because he would've died without medical attention.  He even had to ask rescuers for water because he had spent all his money on the gaming marathon. That a dangerous obsession.  rotten feet

trapped dog

Firefighters had to rescue a dog that had become stuck in it's owner's toilet.  The poor pooch was wet but otherwise unharmed.  If  there's anything lucky about this situation, it's that the dog went in rear first.  In the video, you can hear the puppy crying as the firefighters get it out of it's watery spot.  toilet dog

flatulence

Farting is a natural bodily function.  Everyone does it.  It might be embarrassing but certainly not a reason to be removed from someplace.  But a Swedish soccer player was taken out of a game because of his audible fart.  The refs are defending their decision saying that it was "deliberate provocation" and "unsportsmanlike behavior."  I don't know anyone who can fart on command but maybe they're out there.  game removal

dowry

A man in China is looking for a wife and he has a strange dowry to offer.  It's a 176 lb. 'magical mushroom that prolongs life.'  He found the mushroom in a pond and plans to sell it so that he can afford a wife.  That's the strangest dowry I've ever heard about.  giant mushroom

robots

We've all seen the sci-fi movies about the robots that take over the world.  That could be closer to reality than any of us wants to believe.  A robot in Russia that has artificial intelligence and can learn from it's experiences has escaped twice.  Even though it has been reprogrammed twice, it still escaped.  The creators never thought that it would yearn for freedom when they gave it the ability to avoid obstacles.  The robot may have to be scrapped because of the escapes.  AI

Men in Black

A county in Iowa is being terrorized by some Men in Black.  They appear at night on desolate roads which is freaking out the local residents.  Stepping out from the side of the road, they approach the passenger side door of the vehicle.  People have been reporting the incidents of the black trenchcoat-wearing men for weeks.  Police have no clue who they might be or what their intentions are and have been asking the public for help in identifying the men.  spooky

Barney

A teenager was going to pull a prank on her friends so she put on a Barney head from a costume.  The prank was on her though because the head slipped down over her shoulders and trapped her inside.  Luckily her friends drove her to a fire station to have the head removed.  If she weren't tired of Barney before, she probably is now.  stuck

It's gone

I love visiting Las Vegas.  The Riviera was one of my favorite places.  We used to attend dart tournaments there, have dinner in the buffet, and play slot tournaments that only cost $20 and ended in everyone at least earning a gift.  That's all gone now.  The Riviera closed in 2015 and one of the towers was imploded last night with the rest of the buildings to be demolished at a later date.  So many memories went down with that building.  It's sad to see the "old Vegas" go away.  RIP Riviera

was he gay?

When I heard about the shooting in Orlando, my first thoughts went out to the victims.  This is such a horrific tragedy and I pray that everyone involved gets the peace they are seeking.  I had a discussion with my son about it and the fact the the shooter visited the nightclub several times.  Witnesses say that he would sit in the corner, drink, and sometimes get loud.  Another person claims that he would try to find a date and/or dance with other men.
I initially thought that the shooter was conflicted about his own sexuality and wasn't actually angry with the people at the nightclub but perhaps angry with himself.  Now the FBI may be investigating if the shooter indeed had trolled gay sites on the internet looking for a date and had gone to the club to find men.  Orlando tragedy

smiley face stamps at school

A father is upset that his son came home from school with a smiley face stamp on the back of his hand.  The words "I need lunch money" was under the face.  He claims that this is a form of bullying and shaming kids who don't have any money.  The school sees it differently though.  The Principal says that the stamp isn't the first request for owed lunch money.  And if a parent doesn't want their kid "stamped," they can ask the school to refrain from doing it.
My job at a local elementary school is Nutrition Secretary...I'm the one in charge of that stamp.  I hate giving it to the kids but some of them ask for it.  I prefer to let the school handle the money details with the parents because I don't think kids should have to worry about things like that.
Was this dad right?  school stamp

is this fair?

A boy at an Alaskan high school identifies as a girl and he competed on the girl's track and field team.  He took all the honors and the mother of the fifth place finisher is crying foul.  She says that because DNA doesn't change; a boy, even one that identifies as female; should not be able to compete against naturally born females.  And she has a lot of supporters.  boy/girl

mail

Have you ever wondered about a letter that you were expecting and it showed up late or maybe not at all?  Well in Queens NY, a postal worker may be to blame.  He threw away 1,000 letters because he didn't want to deliver them.  A judge ordered probation for him and told the worthless postal worker to find a new job.  lost mail

Siri

iPhone's Siri is credited for helping save the life of a baby that stopped breathing.  The girl's mother found that her baby had stopped breathing and began resuscitating her.  She saw her iPhone and said, "Hey Siri, Call the ambulance."  That gave her the opportunity to focus on the baby instead of trying to dial the phone.  iPhone to the rescue

crazy

An activist wants to bring attention to deforestation so he walked on glass while holding five snakes in his mouth.  Arteval Duerte filmed himself doing the stunt while in the State of Para in Brazil.  He calls himself "The Ninja of Serpents"and often uses snakes in his demonstrations.  Isn't there a better way to get his point across than to put live snakes in his mouth? snakes

thief

There's a crafty monkey in India.  A jewelry store's cameras caught the monkey throwing a guava into the store and then running inside when a man opens the door to give the fruit back.  After about 20 minutes of jumping around the store, the monkey opened a cash drawer and grabbed $144.  An employee tried offering a banana in exchange for the money but it didn't work.  Now the monkey can buy his own bananas.  rich monkey

left turn

Gilbert Chlewicki designed an interchange that makes dangerous left turns obsolete.  It's called a diverging diamond intersection and it makes it safer for drivers and pedestrians.  Looking at the picture, I couldn't really figure out the concept but after I watched the video explaining it, I can see how this is far better than the traditional intersection.  safer left turn

A Russian couple has dinner every night with a 300 pound bear.  They adopted him when he was only 3-months-old and claim that he is so domesticated that he even cuddles with them.  The 7 foot tall dinner guest joins them at the table and watches tv with them in the evening.  He also helps water the flowers.  pet bear

death threats

The parents of a small boy who fell into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo are getting death threats.  After 17-year-old Harambe was killed so that their son could be rescued, they are being harassed about their parenting.  Some are claiming they should've been shot instead of the gorilla.  Many experts have weighed in on what they think should've happened.  The parents are now facing neglect charges for allowing their son to get into the enclosure.  see the video

A 6-year-old boy called 911 on his own father.  The boy claims his father ran a red light and he was concerned.  Robbie Richardson of Massachusetts made the call Saturday and then tells dispatchers that they went to the car wash.  His dad finally gets on the phone and apologizes to the dispatcher and says that there is no emergency.  busted by your kid

LEGOs

LEGOs are something that most kids love to have in their box of toys.  So when a 7-year-old went to a LEGO exhibit, he decided to play.  What resulted was the destruction of a $15,000 statue.  The exhibit had only been open about an hour when it went down.  The artist had spent 3 days and nights painstakingly putting Nick the fox from Zootopia together but he declined to make the parents pay for the damage.  Nick the fox
